Fred Wilpon makes an appearance at Mets spring training

Observations from Monday’s Mets practice:

In the House

Hitting coach Chili Davis was a familiar site behind the cage during batting practice. Davis worked remotely from Arizona last season because of COVID-19 concerns.

Back Again

Former Mets owner Fred Wilpon visited camp over the weekend with his successor, Steve Cohen. Wilpon, still a minority stakeholder in the team, is expected to make additional visits to camp this spring.

Caught My Eye

The Mets practiced bunt plays, with fielders rotating. Luis Rojas is preparing for bunts, with it possible pitchers will return to batting in the National League this season.

Tuesday’s schedule

Full-squad workouts continue in Port St. Lucie, Fla., with live batting practice added.
