Jacob deGrom and Gerrit Cole are the favorites to win the 2021 Cy Young award in their respective leagues in odds released on Wednesday by BetMGM sportsbooks.
DeGrom, who won the award in 2018 and 2019 and came in third in last year’s voting, is listed at 5/1, atop the National League board. Max Scherzer is second at 7/1 and Trevor Bauer, who rejected more money from the Mets to sign with the Dodgers this offseason, is third at 8/1. The other Mets listed are Carlos Carrasco at 40/1 and Marcus Stroman and the injured Noah Syndergaard, both at 50/1.
Cole finished fourth in the AL Cy Young race last season with the Yankees after posting a second-place finish in 2019 with the Astros. He is listed at 7/2, a slight favorite over Shane Bieber (+375), who won the award in 2020. Other Yankees who rated odds are Corey Kluber (20/1) and Luis Severino (30/1).
Aaron Judge is tied for second-favorite in the AL MVP market at 10/1, one of six Yankees to be mentioned among the top contenders. Gleyber Torres and DJ LeMahieu are listed at 25/1 with Giancarlo Stanton at 30/1, Luke Voit at 66/1 and Gary Sanchez at 100/1. Mike Trout is the overwhelming favorite at 2/1, and Alex Bregman is tied with Judge for the second spot.
Three Mets can be found among the NL’s leading candidates, with Francisco Lindor at 15/1, Pete Alonso at 35/1 and Michael Conforto at 40/1. It’s a tight race atop the NL board, with Mookie Betts and Juan Soto tied for the lead at 15/2. Cody Bellinger and Ronald Acuna are next at 8/1 with Fernando Tatis Jr. coming in a 9/1.
